P2P in Poland: what the rules say
MiCA applies directly in Poland, but Poland has never named the authority that is supposed to supervise it. The Sejm passed a crypto-asset market act that would have given that role to the Komisja Nadzoru Finansowego (KNF), and President Karol Nawrocki sent it back three times; the Sejm records his requests for reconsideration dated 1 December 2025, 12 February 2026 and 11 June 2026. On 4 September 2026 the vote to pass the act again over the last veto drew 241 votes in favour and 198 against, short of the 266 that a three-fifths majority required.
The KNF's office has set out the consequences. With no designated authority, no MiCA authorisation can be applied for or granted in Poland. Firms that had been working from the Polish register of virtual-currency businesses, kept by the tax administration chamber in Katowice, could continue only until 1 July 2026, a date that the office says neither a Polish law nor the KNF can move. Cross-border service remains possible: a provider authorised in another member state that has notified its home regulator may serve clients in Poland under MiCA's passport.
OKX uses that route. On 18 February 2025 it said its MiCA licence, run from its operating hub in Malta, had been passported to 28 EEA countries, Poland among them, and on 17 June 2025 it launched what it described as a fully regulated exchange for the Polish market, with the website, app and customer support in Polish.
How people pay: BLIK, PKO, Pekao, Santander
BLIK is the method PLN sellers list most often. It lives inside the apps of 19 Polish banks: a six-digit BLIK code, valid for two minutes, starts a payment, and Przelew na telefon BLIK sends money to a phone number instead of an account number. BLIK's own FAQ says each bank decides whether to offer phone transfers and sets its own amount and count limits, so a large order can fail on your bank's cap. Complaints about a BLIK payment go to the bank whose app you used. Ordinary transfers from PKO Bank Polski, Bank Pekao, Santander, VeloBank and Millennium also appear in many ads.
Tax and reporting
Income from selling virtual currency for złoty, goods, services or property rights is taxed at 19% of the profit, meaning proceeds minus documented purchase costs, according to the Ministry of Finance's tax portal. Swapping one virtual currency for another is not a taxable sale. If costs exceed proceeds in a year, the excess is carried into the next year's costs instead of being deducted as a loss. You report on the PIT-38 return between 15 February and 30 April of the following year, and exchanges are not obliged to send you a PIT-8C, so your own records are the basis.

Questions people ask
What is the USDT to PLN rate today?
Right now buying 1,000 USDT on P2P costs about 3.927 PLN per USDT (3,927 PLN in total). Selling 1,000 USDT gets about 3.950 per USDT. Updated 27 Oct 2026, 14:59 UTC.
Why is the P2P price different from the official exchange rate?
The official mid rate is 3.926 PLN per dollar. P2P sellers price in local demand for dollars, payment risk and their margin, so the P2P price is 0.01% above the official rate at the moment.
Which platform is cheapest for USDT in Poland right now?
Binance P2P has the best eligible price for a 1,000 USDT order in the latest observation. Platforms change places during the day; the table above is refreshed every 90 seconds for PLN.
Is crypto legal in Poland?
Yes. Crypto is legal and regulated, because the EU's MiCA regulation applies directly in Poland. What Poland lacks is a national supervisor: the act that would have named the KNF was vetoed three times by President Nawrocki, and the Sejm failed to override the latest veto on 4 September 2026. As a result no MiCA licence can be issued in Poland, firms on the old Polish register lost their right to operate after 1 July 2026, and only providers authorised in another EU country and passported into Poland may serve Polish clients.
How is crypto taxed in Poland?
Profit from selling crypto for złoty, goods or services is taxed at a flat 19%. The base is income, meaning what you received minus documented costs of buying the crypto. Swapping one cryptocurrency for another is not a taxable sale. If your costs in a year exceed your proceeds, the surplus is added to the next year's costs rather than claimed as a loss. You file the PIT-38 return between 15 February and 30 April, and exchanges do not send you a PIT-8C, so keep your own records.
Can I use BLIK on Binance P2P?
BLIK is the payment method listed most often across the PLN ads we collect from the P2P platforms, so it is widely used for buying USDT with złoty. BLIK's Przelew na telefon sends money to a phone number instead of an account number, and the six-digit BLIK code starts a payment from your bank app, so ask the seller which of the two the ad means. Each bank decides whether it offers BLIK phone transfers and sets its own limits, so check your app's limit before a large order, and send complaints about a payment to the bank whose app you used.
