Other payment methods
Paying by bank transfer on Binance, Bybit and OKX P2P
The KES page notes that shilling bank ads mostly name I&M Bank and Equity Bank, but the platforms file them differently. Binance's KES list has a generic Bank Transfer entry beside seven named banks, among them Equity Bank, Co-Operative Bank of Kenya and Stanbic, plus Cash Deposit to Bank, and no I&M entry at all. On OKX and Bybit, I&M Bank is a method of its own. Bybit's help centre says a seller must add the exact method the advertiser posted, so a Bank Transfer ad needs the Bank Transfer method rather than a named bank.
Bybit has no automatic payment: you send the shillings yourself from your banking app to the account on the order. Binance's policy wants the payment method used to match the one set in the ad, the paying account in a name identical to your verified one, and nothing paid into an account in a third party's name. It also says both sides bear fees charged by the payment provider unless one of them agreed before the trade to cover them, so the amount sent should include those costs. If a transfer seems late, Bybit's first questions are whether the receiving details were right and whether your method supports real-time transfers at all.
Settlement time and limits
The rail your bank uses decides when the seller sees the money. PesaLink, operated by Integrated Payment Services Limited and owned by the Kenya Bankers Association, sends up to KES 999,999 per transaction through internet banking, a bank's app or USSD, on any day and at any hour. Its FAQ adds that your bank may set a lower limit for security reasons and that fees vary bank by bank, and its guide has you confirm the recipient's name, the total and the fee before paying. I&M's PesaLink page is one example: receiving is free, sending is charged on a sliding scale, and the recipient is credited in real time with an SMS to both sides.
RTGS in Kenya is the CBK's Kenya Electronic Payment and Settlement System (KEPSS). Since 1 July 2025 it runs from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on business days, not at weekends or on public holidays. A CBK and Kenya Bankers Association FAQ on KEPSS contrasts it with EFT, which settles in batches at the clearing house, so an EFT sent after the settlement time waits for the next one. The same FAQ says a bank may decline to apply an RTGS payment whose beneficiary details differ from its records.
What goes wrong
- The order timer. Binance cancels an order automatically when payment is not made within the time limit, and five such cancellations in a row stop a buyer from taking orders for 24 hours. OKX's advice for a transfer that looks stuck is to ask your own bank whether it really failed before sending the money again.
- Frozen bank accounts. Binance reports sellers whose bank accounts were frozen together with the scammers' after buyers cheated on other platforms went to the authorities. Among its precautions for sellers is to avoid "any mention of cryptocurrency" in the payment reference or notes.
- Accounts used for others. Binance's risk rules allow it to disable P2P or freeze an account that is not used by the person it is registered to, or that is illegally used to buy digital assets for others, and a freeze ordered by a court has to be settled with that judicial authority rather than with Binance.

Questions people ask
How much is USDT right now when paying with Bank transfer?
Counting only ads that accept Bank transfer, a 1,000 USDT order averaged 130.00 KES (about 130,001 KES) in the latest observation, across 59 ads. The cards above refresh every 90 seconds.
Which platform has the most sellers accepting Bank transfer?
In the latest observation Binance P2P had the most checked Bank transfer ads (26). Counts move all day; the sellers table above is sorted by price and names the platform.
How is the price on this page calculated?
We take the public P2P ads of Binance, OKX, Bybit, Bitget and HTX, keep the ones that can fill the order size, walk them from the best price and average what the order would cost. Bait prices more than 3% better than the median of the top 20, and merchants under 50 orders or below 90% completion, are excluded. Numbers are recomputed every 90 seconds; the methodology page has the full rules.
How long does a PesaLink transfer take?
It is meant to be instant. PesaLink calls itself an instant account-to-account network available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including weekends and public holidays, and I&M Bank's PesaLink page says the recipient gets the funds in real time, with an SMS to both sender and receiver once the transaction succeeds. PesaLink's own five-step guide ends with checking that notification and contacting your bank immediately if it doesn't look right. If the seller says nothing has arrived, OKX advises confirming with your own bank whether the transfer failed before paying a second time.
What is the PesaLink limit per day?
PesaLink publishes a ceiling per transaction rather than per day: up to KES 999,999 in one transfer. Its FAQ says your bank may apply lower limits for security reasons and that you raise them by asking the bank, so any daily cap is set by the bank you send from. Charges are also set bank by bank; I&M Bank, for example, makes receiving free and charges for sending on a tiered tariff. OKX's checklist for Kenyan traders says to know your payment rail's limits before a large trade, since a payment blocked with the order timer running is a common cause of disputes.
What is the RTGS cut-off time in Kenya?
Kenya's RTGS system is the Central Bank of Kenya's KEPSS, and since 1 July 2025 it has been open between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. each business day, in place of the earlier 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. window. It is closed at weekends and on public holidays. The CBK said the longer day lets large and time-sensitive payments start earlier and finish later. An older CBK and Kenya Bankers Association FAQ on KEPSS already warned that RTGS times vary with each commercial bank, so the cut-off in your own banking app can differ from the system hours.
